Ahhhh....vacation!
I enjoyed my stay in the mountains so much. I can't say that I hated to come home, but I would rather be up there still. While it was 104 at home, I was wearing a sweatshirt by 2:30 in the afternoon. Two sweatshirts by 6:00! The first day (6/27/06), there was a massive thunderstorm with lightning cracking overhead! It was scary, but beautiful. The next day it rained early in the morning and then again in the afternoon. We had a camp site by the creek again. More people on Tuesday than usual, but fewer on Thursday. I'm sure the place is full today.
One day we were out driving around and saw a doe with her fawn. The fawn still had it's white spots. I don't remember seeing one before...and I've been going to the mountains since I was a little kid.
The jet jocks were not playing in the canyon as much as years past. Only heard them a few times. Didn't see them at all...just heard them. Maybe the weather had something to do with that.
We were lucky...no fires this time. Only saw a couple of spotter planes and a helicopter once...and it didn't have a water bucket hanging from it.
All in all, it was a good trip. Had fun and relaxed. And then come back to my favorite driver having won the IROC race and then to watch him win the Pepsi 400! Woohoo!
