My place to ramble on.....

Whatever!

They are showing Yosemite on the news. I can't wait to go up there next month. The falls should be flowing good, but not at peak. I don't want to wait that long to go as it will be Disneyland North by then. Yosemite is a beautiful place, but way too popular. Can't blame anyone for wanting to see it, though. I like to go in the winter when there will only be a few hundred people there...not a hundred thousand! Well, not that many...it just seems like it. I am happy that Kings Canyon isn't as popular. Of course, it's not a drive-through park. You have to get out and explore to find the best spots. We are so lucky to live so close to so much...I always try to remind myself of that when it's 110 and no shade! In an hour I can be in the cool forest.

I'm glad that my week is half over. I am looking forward to the weekend. It will be busy. It's the clean-up weekend in town. They have free dumping of unwanted garbage and junk. We are cleaning out the yard in order to get the landscaping back to looking good. Our roses are beautiful! They are growing so well this year...so are the weeds. Only they are unwanted, so they don't even qualify as wildflowers!

Today was the first time I came home from work and got in the spa to relax. It was great. The tension in my back went away in 10 minutes. Of course, I wanted to go to sleep when I got out!

Guess that is enough for tonight. I still need to read my newspaper since it wasn't here when I left for work this morning.

What kind of tides do small beaches have? Micro waves!

I hate dust!!!

I hate dust! I feel like I spent my whole day dusting! I guess it's my big problem because I like fresh air and have the windows open as often as possible. That and the fact that I hadn't dusted in a few weeks made it worse. I will say now, like I have said in the past, I won't let it go again. Yeah, right. I guess I rebel by not doing the housework because my mom was such a neat freak! I don't like to clean house and do my best to try to get out of it. I have got to stop doing that!

There is a good show on volcanoes on, so I guess I will sign off so I can watch it this time. There has been so much on TV lately, it makes me wonder if the government is using the shows to make people more alert and maybe not be surprised by something happening. Being a born Californian (yes, we do exist), I know that earthquakes happen and they can be big. The area where I live is actually one of the less active regions, but will have some damage when the 8.0 near Fort Tejon hits. Yes, I say when, not if. I will see it in my lifetime. I didn't feel the quake on 4/16/05 that was near Maricopa, but some friends did. Hmmm...guess I'll go check the USGS site before I go to bed.

Good night sweet blog, good night!

Miscellaneous stuff

The spa is so relaxing! It is full and warm. Now it's time to finish the area around it with steps, tiles and plants. Now if we win the lottery we can put in a pool and decking.

I have got to take some people pictures with the digital camera to practice. I will photograph my friend's wedding in September. I haven't photographed anything that special in a long time. I have a few months to get to know that camera. My film cameras are no problem as I've had them for so long that it's almost automatic to use them!

The wildflowers in the mountains are wonderful this year. I can't wait until next month to go to Yosemite. It should be a couple of weeks before it turns into Disneyland North, but I'm sure that there will be wall to wall people...just not wall to wall and three high! The waterfalls should be awe inspiring.

That's it for now. I can't think of anything more to write.

It's Done!!!

I finally got the taxes done. I don't know why I put it off for so long. I guess I am such a procrastinator that I waited until nearly the last minute. It's not painful.

Sometimes I wonder why I started this blog. I don't know what to write a lot of the time. I guess I did it just to have something to do...and a place to gripe when my family is tired of hearing me!

I hope the weather gets better...I am ready for some sun and exercise. The weather wasn't bad today, but I didn't get out much. Just to help move the spa onto the slab. Now it just needs to be cleaned out and filled up. Then...AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! I saw a towel rack for outdoors in a Home Depot ad...I think I could put one together out of pvc pipe for way less. And it was made from pvc. Still have a lot of yard work to get done.

April 10 is our anniversary. We are planning on going to the mountains for the day to celebrate. Maybe go swimming at California Hot Springs. Hope it's not crowded...I don't like to share the pool and hot tubs with too many people. If we hadn't been divorced it would be our 12th anniversary. This August we will be back together for 9 years. The legal part only lasted eight months.

Some of my friends have been sending some good jokes. I should copy them over here. Maybe that is something that I will try to do one day. It should be fairly easy. I'm thinking about using the free website that comes with my ISP. It could be fun.

Guess I'll get going...nothing more to write about. Is this a boring blog or what???

???

I don't know what I want to do. I want to go to Death Valley this weekend and see the awesome flowers, but I don't have the time or the $$$! I read that it is past the peak now, but it's still supposed to be a once in a lifetime display. I think I'm going to have to be satisified with taking a drive to the local mountains in the Sequoia National Monument and check out the flowers around here.

Our anniversary is this weekend. Maybe we will go to Hot Springs and go swimming for the day. I do enjoy doing that.

We will go camping next month for the first time this year. Yosemite in May will be beautiful, even if it is the start of the Disneyland North summer tourist season. With all the snow this year, the waterfalls should be a wonderous sight. Will do nature photos and maybe some outdoor portraits. A friend is getting married later this year, and this would be a good time to do their engagement portraits.

I need to get a few things for the digital camera before we go. A filter to protect the lens is a must. Also, I want to get a cord where I can use my stronger flashes. The little pop-up flash may be enough for outdoor portraits, but it isn't enough for inside.

Guess that's enough about me for today. I'm not feeling well and it shows in my writing. I don't even feel like thinking up a poem or witticism for today.

April Fools Day!

When I was a kid we had a friend named Riley. Riley was very old (well, when I was 13, 80+ was ancient!) and had a weird sense of humor. He called me Dirksen (a politician) and I called him some other politician's name (now who is getting old???). Every April Fools Day, Riley would call and ask if the refrigerator was running; when I said yes, he would tell me to hurry up and get it before it got too far from home. If it wasn't the refrigerator, it would be "Is the stove burning?"...and I'd better put the fire out. Memories of childhood...memories of people now gone. I miss them.

We got the hot tub slab done yesterday. I was so tired I couldn't move my fingers! I am still sore, but not as bad as I thought I would be. It feels good to have accomplished something! But I sure could use a soak in that hot tub today...but it has to wait a week or so for the cement to cure before we can set the tub on the slab. By then, I hope to have the lawn area around it leveled and some flowers planted. Also, some stepping stones from the slab to the doors. I know that I can do it if I try!

How do we succeed
if we do not try?
Failure is an option...
if we try;
success is not an option
if we do not try.
Now I had better go and chase down that refrigerator and bring it home! Thanks, Riley (and all the others who are now only memories)!
