What a weekend!

Man...what a scare yesterday! My favorite driver going wheels up and sliding on the roof! Thank God he wasn't injured. And then today's race getting postponed due to rain...and I have to work tomorrow. The TIVO had better work!

I am really starting to get into my photography again. I had burned out for a while (a few years, actually!) and just did grab shots and once in a while did something serious. I feel like I want to go take pictures all the time now. I am seeing the pictures in my brain like I used to.

I want to buy lighting and get more into portraits and still life. I don't think those are my calling, but I need to practice. And practice...and then practice some more. That is one good thing about digital...I can take all the pictures I want without the expense of film and developing. I can see a big difference between the pictures with my film cameras and the digital I have...but then my digital is not a pro-level SLR!

The other morning I saw a beautiful sunrise, so I pulled off the road and grabbed my digital camera and took a few pictures. One has a bird flying into the sunrise. It is a nice shot. Would have been better if there had been a few clouds in the sky! I was able to capture the dark sun rays before the sun cleared the mountains, though. I wonder what I will see tomorrow...

Rain, rain

Go away! I want some sunshine! It just keeps on raining. I got my wish the other night...we got a thunderstorm. Lasted quite a while, but I didn't get to take any pictures...it was raining too much. I had the door open so I could hear the thunder, see the lightning and smell the fresh air...until one of our dog's started barking at the thunder! She has never done it before; I closed the door and she seemed to relax a bit.

I slept the day away. I got cold earlier and went back to bed to get warm and fell asleep. And slept...and slept...and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!! When I woke up, I was warm though!

I am wanting to practice my photography. I'm getting back into it, I think. I kind of burned out for a while. I keep my digital camera with me all the time now. I prefer to use my old pro-level film cameras, though. The pictures are so much better...and even though the zoom on the digital is supposed to be equal to the one I use on the film camera it just doesn't seem to have the reach! I have some great pictures this year for the fair. And there are more that I know I can take. There is a limit to the number of pictures one person can enter...and I usually have that many.

Guess that is it for today. I've got to get ready for Monday. Won't be going to work, though. Have to go to jury duty. I don't mind doing my duty, it's a privilige, I believe...I just have too much work to do at work!

Did today happen???

I am beginning to wonder if today was a day or a dream. I have slept most of the day away. I got cold and couldn't seem to warm up, so I went back to bed...and slept...and slept...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

I have jury duty tomorrow. I hope I get excused because I need to work. I don't consider jury duty a nuisance like so many people do; I just wish I could schedule it when it's convenient! I was supposed to go last month, but I rescheduled it due to a conference I wanted to attend. Turns out, it was cancelled last month. This one isn't, as far as I know.

There was a good thunderstorm a couple of nights ago. I had the door open and one of our dogs barked at the thunder. I think she got scared, though she hasn't been before. I closed the door, and it seemed to help her relax some.

I guess that's it for this evening. Can't think of anything else to write!

Some notes about my life

This has been an interesting week. I have seen the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. Even the ugly was different.

There was a swarm of bees landed on a tree by my office. So many of the people freaked out. Honeybees won't usually bother people, unless you hurt them or they think they will be hurt. I walked right up to the swarm and took pictures of it. Got one excellent one. (Hey...my photography can support my ego most of the time!) The pictures of the owl's clover are so-so; a couple are good enough.

I need to start getting my enlargements for the fair printed. I usually wait until the last minute and then start stressing out. No need to do that this year. I just need to save them to the computer and then upload them to the processor and pick them up. Oh, and have the $$$ to pay for them!

There are some thunderstorms not far from here. It's a nice night, so I wish they were closer so I could try to photograph some of the lightning. It's hard to get it right. I've only tried a couple of times. I got one photo out of 40 or so to turn out.

If a picture is worth a 1000 words, why is it that some of the best photographs leave you speechless?

No, I didn't die...

My computer did. And when it died, I couldn't remember my user ID and password. Couldn't even remember what website I was using. Actually, I think I forgot about my blog. That is life!

I hit the big 50 during the time I didn't blog. I am excited and looking forward to getting old...even if I refuse to grow up! I am planning on returning to college in the fall for one class. It's been so long since I've had to study, I think I will only try one class. Plus, I will only be able to afford one book! The last time I went to college, my most expensive book was about $50. And it only cost $10 to attend for a semester.

I don't know if I shared the exciting information about my photography. Two of the photographs that I entered in the local county fair won blue ribbons. I think seeing those pictures with the ribbons hanging by them made me believe that I can take good pictures...once in a while!

I have been having fun using the new computer. I have decided that Photoshop, even Elements isn't that user friendly. Just an opinion, of course. I still plan on trying to figure it out, even if I tend to go back to my old program since I figured out how to use it a long time ago.

It has been a long day, so I will close for today.

Passing a garbage dump today
I was gifted with a sight of great beauty.
Though the dump was dismal
Large patches of Owl's Clover had covered
the hills meant to hide the remains of our lives.
